UCCO’S MASKS – WEAR THEM PROUDLY

Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, UCCO-SACC-CSN has maintained that the employer must take all reasonable measures to ensure our safety, including the provision of PPE and all measures recommended by Public Health.

Over the course of this pandemic, we have learned that COVID-19 may be spread by someone not showing symptoms. Following the advice of Public Health officials, who have indicated that a non-surgical mask may help to mitigate the potential spread of COVID-19, UCCO-SACC-CSN once again called upon the employer to provide these recommended tools.

With a very limited supply, the employer began issuing masks at a rate of one mask for every two shifts. This being unacceptable resulted in UCCO-SACC-CSN working to procure proper tools for our members. UCCO-SACC-CSN is pleased today to offer our members a machine washable mask which, if washed properly, can be re-used until this pandemic is over.

We ask you to wear it proudly. This mask is an important tool to help prevent the spread of the virus. It is important to note that this mask is not a piece of personal protective equipment. As recommended by Public Health, the use of a non-medical mask will only help prevent an infected individual, whether he or she knows it or not, from spreading the virus. We wear this mask to protect one another. It will be in our collective action that we will beat this virus.

We are Stronger Together.
