As many of you are aware, our National Executive has been attempting to engage the Minister of Public Safety for some time now to discuss many issues that directly affect front line Correctional Officers. One of those topics was RESPECT in the workplace. To this date we have had no reply from the Minister ultimately proving the lack of RESPECT being shown to Federal Correctional Officers and UCCO-SACC-CSN by our employer CSC.
UCCO-SACC-CSN will not stand for this disrespect shown to us. If the CSC and the Minister choose to continue to DISRESPECT us, then we will not show them RESPECT in return. It’s time to remove our uniform shirts and cover up the CSC logo. The CSC crest stands for several things including RESPECT and since there is no RESPECT for us then there is no need to display the patch.
If the employer begins to give direct orders to members to put on the uniform shirt or remove the tape, the reply from our members is to be “please go speak to a member of my Local Executive. I am standing behind my UCCO-SACC-CSN sisters and brothers as we demand respect”
If you need support, please reach out to a member of your Local Executive so that they may inform a member of your Regional Executive.
We are tired of being disrespected.
This topic is larger than just pandemic pay itself. It includes the overall work environment that CX are facing across the country. It concerns:
– Appealing worksafe covid claims
– Members being charged sick leave vs. 699 leave
– Rapid Testing for officers vs. PCR tests for inmates (public cannot get PCR tests in some areas)
– Ridiculous PPE (face shields)—waste of public funds
– Management being found guilty of harassment of CX without consequence
– Excessive use of disciplinary investigations
– Recognition of inmates and their families but not CX and their families
– Ordered overtime
– Working 16.5 plus hours
