Following the demonstration held in front of MP Bill Casey’s office against the implementation the needle exchange program at Nova Institution on the 15th of April, RP Jeff Wilkins and RVP Olivia Tynes met Mr. Casey on April 25th to discuss these concerns. Mr. Casey who is also chair of the standing committee of health agreed that the stance the CSC has taken with regard to inmates being in possession of needles flys against all he has learned about harm reduction and overdose prevention in the community. Mr. Casey committed to reaching out to both the Minister of Health and the Minister of Public Safety to voice these concerns. We thank Mr. Casey for meeting with us and hearing the concerns of our members.
