Guidelines for Educational Bursary : The annual Pacific Region UCCO-SACC-CSN Educational Bursary ($1,000) will be awarded this year by the Pacific Region UCCO-SACC-CSN Executive to two dependants of a Pacific Region UCCO-SACC-CSN member.
Eligibility
1- The applicant must be a dependant of a UCCO-SACC-CSN member. The UCCO-SACC-CSN member must be an active or retired member in the Pacific Region;
2- The dependant must be currently enrolled for and attending post secondary education;
3- The selection committee will consist of the Pacific Region President, Pacific Region Vice-President and Pacific Region 2nd Vice-President (Or alternates- 3 persons);
4- The applicant will submit an application consisting of: • Proof of registration in education for the fall of 2019;
• Name and contact information of the UCCO-SACC-CSN Member (on a separate piece of paper). The contact information of the UCCO-SACC-CSN member is not to be included anywhere in the essay (to avoid favouritism);
• 2-3 pages (double spaced) in response to one of the topics selected by the candidate (choose from the topics listed below);
5-Application Deadline is Sept 5th 2019 (essay could be emailed to angela.gauthier@csn.qc.ca);
6- The successful applicant will be announced at the September Regional Executive Meeting and the applicant will receive payment with an official receipt from the post secondary institution they are attending.
Essay Topic Selections
1- How does my parent’s involvement in the union make my life better?
2- Correctional Officers are facing legislative changes that will impact their jobs and safety. Describe and highlight the differences between Segregation and Solitary Confinement?
3- Correctional Officers are facing new working challenges with needle exchange programs and safe injection sites. Discuss the impacts of both on Correctional Officers.
