On Trial for Doing our Job

TWO OF OUR OWN face criminal charges following the tragic death of inmate Hines.

Following investifation by the Sackville detachment of the RCMP (New Brunswick), which found no grounds to proceed with criminal charges, the political powers, forced another police investigation by the Major Crimes Unit of Northeast Nova (Nova Scotia). This investigation resulted in criminal charges being laid on our members FOR DOING THEIR JOB.

We offer our sincere condolences to the Hines family but we cannot accept being singled out for doing our job. This could have happened to anyone of us. We are fully backing our members with legal representation and will rigorously defend them despite the employer not backing their request for legal support.

Our members have been reassigned with pay, for now, following the Union’s intervention with CSC.

WE ARE ALL ON TRIAL SO WE MUST ALL STAND TOGETHER AND SUPPORT THESE TWO OFFICERS.

As things unfold we will try and inform you as promptly as we can on any new developments.
