NGA – Day 2

The second day of the NGA in Calgary.

The National President and all the Presidents of the 5 regions presented their reports for the last three years. They described their different realities, victories and challenges. All mentioned the need for membership participation in solidarity actions that supports all regional executives.

Thereafter, Dr. Rose Ricciardelli from the Canadian Institute for Public Safety Research and Treatment (CIPSRT) came to present the importance of mental health research to adequately equip Correctional Officers.

Finally, the national committee mobilization has come to present its assessment of the last three years. The 5 regional vice-presidents presented all the actions carried out on several issues, including the last round of negotiations, Phoenix, PTSI, PNEP, etc.

Discussions continued on the Prison Needle Exchange Program and the mobilization surrounding the upcoming round of bargaining.
