Bargaining Report #1 Negotiations are launched with the Treasury Board of Canada!

A first series of meetings took place this week between your Bargaining Committee and the Employer’s representatives in Ottawa.

The bargaining team would like to warmly thank all the members of UCCO-SACC-CSN for their support this week during the kick-off activity. Across the country, you gathered to show your support and your determination. This demonstration of solidarity supported our message at the bargaining table: UCCO-SACC-CSN members deserve a collective agreement worthy of the work they do every day for Canadians, and they are ready to mobilize to get it!

The week began on a sour note as the Employer did not provide simultaneous translation as it has been the case for 20 years, making the conversations very difficult for both parties. As we move forward into our future negotiation sessions, UCCO-SACC-CSN will use all the means at its disposal to ensure that the Treasury Board complies with its official languages’ obligations.

Exchanges on various topics took place during this first session, although the most crucial issues are reserved for later. Several articles which are seen by both sides as housekeeping ones were signed this week. Negotiations will continue from March 28 to 30.

We invite you to follow the latest negotiation updates on our website and social media platforms. To help spread the news you can also “like” and share the union posts. When commenting, please be mindful that our social media is regularly monitored by the Employer.

Canada’s correctional officers deserve a significant improvement in their working conditions. It is by remaining proud, united and strong that we will get what we deserve.
