Negotiation report #5 – A strange week to say the least!

July 2020.

We went back to the table this past Tuesday, expecting to move forward. Unexpectedly, the negotiator who was working with us since October wasn’t available, and won’t be until further notice.

As we mentioned in previous communications, our expectation, as given by the previous negotiator, was that we could expect an agreement this summer. In order to achieve that, the Treasury Board had to get rid of some of their demands.

We had not seen them remove any of their demands, which is why we started mobilization this past week. We wanted to send a clear message: UCCO-SACCC-CSN won’t accept any agreement that gives us a step back in our scheduling rights. Hands off our schedules!

It’s now up to the employer to withdraw its demands. We will be back at the bargaining table mid-August, and we hope that our employer do their work if they wish to have any sort of agreement this summer. If they do not, we won’t settle for just anything.

Solidarity!
