Following a favourable judicial decision regarding a policy grievance filed by UCCO-SACC-CSN, some UCCO-SACC-CSN members are eligible to receive monetary compensation under certain conditions.
Indeed, the Federal Public Sector Labour Relations and Employment Board agreed with UCCO-SACC-CSN’s interpretation of the collective agreement in a recent decision regarding the calculations of the severance pay of the former members of the Canadian Armed Forces who currently work as federal correctional officers.
These members, wronged by the calculations used by the employer to determine their severance pay, are entitled, as per the decision, to monetary compensation equivalent to half (½) a week’s pay per year worked with the Canadian Armed Forces, provided they comply with the two following conditions:
- Having between 9 and 20 years of service in the Canadian Armed Forces;
- Having worked steadily in the Public Service between your service in the Canadian Armed Forces and your employment at Correctional Service of Canada (continuous service).
If you meet those two conditions, we invite you to file your compensation request by filling out the Canadian Armed Forces Authorization Form available on the union’s website and then emailing it at Military-Grievances.GEN-NHQ@CSC-SCC.GC.CA.
