This week marked a significant milestone in our ongoing negotiations for a new contract with the arrival of a new negotiator.
The UCCO-SACC-CSN Negotiation Committee has been diligently working to represent the collective interests of correctional officers, striving for fair terms and conditions that honour our hard work and dedication. We are excited to share that there has been a notable shift in the tone of discussions during the recent negotiation sessions. This change has resulted in some small movements toward our proposed terms. While these strides may seem incremental, they signify a potential turning point in our negotiations.
We mentioned in the last update that we wanted to give the new negotiator a chance and so far, it has been worth it. However, we had to spend a good part of the first two days’ re-explaining our proposals to the Treasury Board negotiator and her team. We also confirmed three new weeks of negotiations for February 26 to 29, March 26 to 28, and May 28 to 30, 2024. The Negotiation Committee is cautiously optimistic about the direction we are heading to. The positive momentum witnessed in these discussions has given us renewed hope and confidence as we move forward in our pursuit of a fair and just agreement for CXs. Your steadfast support and unity have been instrumental in reaching this point. As we anticipate the upcoming negotiation sessions, we remain committed to advocating for our rights and ensuring that our needs are at the forefront of our discussions. We encourage you to stay informed and engaged, as your involvement is crucial in shaping the outcome of these negotiations.
Please stay tuned for further updates on the progress of our negotiations. UCCO-SACC-CSN is committed to transparency and keeping you informed every step of the way.
Thank you for your unwavering support and solidarity. Together, we will continue to strive for a contract that upholds fairness and respects the hard work of each and every member.
Proud. United. Strong.
Your Negotiation Committee
